There’s no better way to start Fourth of July festivities in Breck than a community-oriented bike race: the one, the only, the 16th edition of the Firecracker 50.
Taking off from the intersection of Lincoln and Main Street, the race is the beginning of the downtown Independence Day parade. Waves organized by skill level take off from 9:30 a.m. to about 10 a.m. Riders merge at the end of Main Street and then head east to Boreas Pass. Headquarters is at Carter Park, where the cyclists pass by on their first lap and for the finish.
