In this guide, we’ll dive into the world of sustainable travel, helping you embrace eco-friendly practices and transportation. Get ready to reduce your carbon footprint while shredding the slopes!
Understanding the Importance of Eco-Friendly Ski Trips
When you’re imagining your Colorado Ski trip, what comes to mind? Probably majestic peaks, fresh, fluffy snow, and a breathtaking environment. We all want to keep that pristine beauty intact, don’t we? That’s why it’s crucial to recognize the environmental impact of traditional skiing practices and start embracing sustainability. By going green, we’re not only preserving the mountains for future generations (seriously, how cool would it be for our grandkids to enjoy the same slopes?), but we’re also showing respect for natures gifts.
Choosing Sustainable Accommodations and Resorts
Now that we’re on the same page about going green, let’s talk about where you’ll be crashing after an exhilarating day on the mountain. It’s time to choose an accommodation that shares your sustainable goals! Look out for places that prioritize energy efficiency, recycling programs, and overall sustainable practices. Lucky for you, there are some fantastic eco-friendly resorts in Colorado that are doing just that!
Breckenridge Grand Vacations – is dedicated to responsible business practices that ensure minimal impact to the local mountain environment by mindful development, resource conservation and waste reduction. They have a company-wide goal to increase their waste diversion-rate to 80% by 2030, and have implemented initiatives like bagless recycling bins, glass bins and compost bins available in all rooms, to make this possible. Additionally, BGV has a company-wide responsible purchasing goal, which has helped lead the decision to replace plastic water bottles with refillable, aluminum water bottles.
Beaver Run – In an effort to become an environmentally friendly resort, Beaver Run Resort has created a “green committee” and developed green initiatives. Their goals include reducing their environmental impact, improving the recycling program, and reducing the resort’s carbon footprint.
Grand Lodge Colorado on Peak 8 has been recognized by Green Globes during the planning and building process for implementing sustainable building practices and energy performance efficiency.
All of these lodging options offer shuttle services to help you get around Breckenridge so there’s no need for the hassle of renting your own car.
