Early season snow conditions are amazing!!!!
All Summit Ski Areas will be open on Thanksgiving Day this year, and for that we are grateful! Heavy amounts of natural snow and consistent snowmaking allowed Breckenridge and Keystone Ski Resorts to open early this year. Copper Mountain opens Friday 11/16/18. A-Basin opened 10/19/18 showcasing many base area renovations, partially in expanded dining options. If you have never had a Bacon Bloody Mary at A-Basin, add it to your bucket list!!
My Thanksgiving tradition is skiing & eating. I’ll be hitting the slopes at Breckenridge this year and enjoying the amazing early season powder, followed by dinner Sevens in the Grand Lodge on Peak 7. The grand feast includes butternut squash bisque, hazelnut stuffing and roasted brined turkey. YUMMY!!! For more Thanksgiving Day dining options, check out the Summit Daily the week of Thanksgiving for dining specials and reservations.
If you are looking for something other than skiing and eating, sign up for the Frisco Turkey Day 5K. The first annual Turkey Day 5K is open to all ages and takes place on the Summit County Recreation path and town of Frisco side streets. All racers are invited to make a non-perishable food donation at the event, which will benefit the Family and Intercultural Resource Center of Summit County. The Frisco Adventure Park tubing hill and Nordic center is now open for the season. Sleigh rides with spectacular mountain views around the Peninsula Recreation Area and down scenic trails depart from the Frisco Nordic Center.
With so much to do and so much to look forward to this winter, its easy to be grateful.
